Harmony in motion.
The Ideoform series returns to abstraction, using calligraphic forms as a visual dialogue between figures and gestures. Inspired by Asian traditions such as kanji, I designed the shapes ‘as if they were strokes from a brush, but in three dimensions.’ The figures were not imposed on the forms but discovered through them, relating to the abstract shapes as natural partners in motion and harmony.
Richard Speer describes this approach in From the Heart: Sculpture by Martin Eichinger, as one that emphasizes spontaneity and gestural qualities, capturing the interplay of motion and form.
For more on how these abstract explorations came to life, the book provides detailed insights.
