Balancing acts of life.
The Circus series grew from a fascination with the narratives and symbolism of circus life. Inspired by the acrobatics and storytelling of Cirque du Soleil, I used these sculptures to explore themes like perfectionism, a parent’s pride, and the material world's influence on human ambition. Each piece is a self-contained story.
As Richard Speer describes in From the Heart: Sculpture by Martin Eichinger, these works are ‘discrete morality plays wrapped in the dazzling costumes and death-defying feats of the greatest show on Earth.’
