3 Things I Learned From Making Child of the Sea

Posted by: Joya

Martin Eichinger tells me about his process:

    1.  I was reminded of our deep link to the sea in so many ways.  We begin our lives, for example, in a sea of amniotic fluid, which is quite similar to saltwater in terms of chemical composition.

    2.  I learned that the ocean is a competitive place!  “It isn’t eat OR be eaten! It’s eat AND be eaten!"

    3.  I realized that the ocean is so rich with mythology.  From mermaids to Poseidon, I really enjoyed creating interesting transitions within the bas-relief; a seahorse becomes a horse, a horse becomes high tide.
